Lemu Golassa obtained a PhD on Tropical and Infectious Diseases from Addis Ababa University. At present he teaches and do research at Aklilu Lemma Institute of Pathobiology, Addis Ababa University. His research program focuses on understanding the genetic and molecular basis of antimalarial drug resistance in P. falciparum, asymptomatic malaria carriages, genetic basis of the dormant liver stages (hypnozoites) in P. vivax and host genetics modulating susceptibility and/or resistance to malaria. He is the member of Ethiopian Medical Laboratory Association, Ethiopian Public Health Association, Ethiopian Society of Tropical and Infectious diseases (current president) and Swedish Malaria Network.
