Context
A new workshop was held in Bamako on 16 and 17 January 2019 to address the issue of antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This initiative was a continuation of the technical workshop organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) in Bamako, bringing together clinicians, pharmacists, epidemiologists, and laboratory managers from the five sentinel sites to begin surveillance of antimicrobial Resistance (AMR).
This workshop is also in line with the objectives of the African Association for Research and Control of Antimicrobial Resistance (AARAM). Therefore the President of the Association, Professor Abdoulaye Djimdé, participated to the launching workshop for an advocacy action by making a presentation on:
* the issue of antimicrobial resistance (Bacteriology, virology, parasitology and One Heallth);
* the state of antimicrobial research;
* the tracks opened by studies in progress.
Have also actively participated to this work; Ms. Carmem Pessoa, Antimicrobial Resistance Coordinator at the WHO in Geneva, Mr. Mamadou Sounkalo Traoré, Director of the National Institute of Health Research (INRSPE), concerned officials as well as the coordination team of RAM monitoring.
Conclusion
This presentation once again made it possible to recall the stakes of this fight and to have the work of the different teams involved on this theme converge. At this stage, the approach meets these imperatives, necessary for the success of our joint ventures.
