The African Association for Research and Control of Anti-Microbial Resistance (AARAM) is delighted to welcome you to its 3rd Congress being held in Abidjan, the beautiful capital city of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire. This Congress is being held at a critical time of remission of the Covid-19 pandemic that has shaken the World with millions of deaths.

AARAM is a scientific association created in 2017 in Bamako, Mali, which brings together under the same roof actors in Bacteriology, Mycology, Parasitology, Virology and One Health. Antimicrobials are drugs used to prevent and treat the above mentioned infections in humans, animals or plants. Antimicrobial resistance is constantly increasing in the World and particularly in Africa where the technical platforms for management are not adequate. Financial resources to develop simple diagnostic tools for better therapeutic decision making are insufficient. Good infection prevention practices are not known, ignored or not applied due to financial constraints. In the twilight of the Covid-19 pandemic, Africa is not immune to new global health challenges. Indeed, antimicrobial resistance is a true "neglected pandemic" that is causing suffering and deaths in our hospitals. Despite all these difficulties, we are convinced that the African genius will awaken and will allow you during these 3 days to propose innovative solutions and to interact with your colleagues from different countries of the World.

You will attend conferences on antimicrobial resistance and you will be informed of the latest advances in terms of treatment, research and African solutions. We have chosen a mixed mode (face-to-face and virtual) so that you can adapt and benefit from this congress wherever you are in the World.

We are very grateful to the speakers who have agreed to share their expertise during this 3rd conference. We also hope that you will enjoy meeting old friends in person, meeting new ones and having a good time for future South-South collaborations.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank our partners who made this congress possible, the scientific committee and the local organizing committee. All of Africa is very grateful for your support and interest in this topic, which will be the scourge of the future if we are not careful.

We invite you to attend the general assembly that will be held on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 2:30 pm in the plenary room. This is the place to join AAAMR and participate fully in the future activities of our association.

We thank you for coming to Abidjan or for your participation online and wish you a pleasant, interactive and productive conference!
